Criminal Defense
As both a defense attorney and specially appointed prosecutor, John
H. Baker has perspective, knowledge and experience representing defendants
charged with misdemeanor crimes in Athens and the surrounding counties.
In Athens, John has worked with University of Georgia and other students
to protect their rights of privacy and due process. A defendant must
know the impact of the disposition of their case on their lives and
futures and make well-informed decisions in their cases such as:
- Should the case be tried?
- What motions should be filed?
- What is pre-trial diversion?
- What is an expungement, and I am
entitled to it after my case is dismissed?
John represents Defendants
in the Middle District of Georgia for Federal crimes, including white-collar
crimes. He is appointed regularly by the Federal Magistrate Judge
to represent Defendants and is familiar with Federal Criminal Defense
practice and procedure. The John can advise regarding defenses in
the Federal case and assist a client to navigate the maze of the
application of the guidelines to their sentencing.
